Born in Moscow Irena Gohbanov studied at Moscow Central Art School and Arts College, graduating in 1984, and completed Master Degree program in textile design in Moscow Academy of Textile Industry in 1991. She is currently living in Israel.
In Israel Irena worked in various art studios and as an independent artist. She participated in several exhibits, such as International Judaica Fair in Jerusalem, Amalia Arbel Gallery and Tel Aviv City Hall art exhibitions. Presently she runs her own design firm "Irena", specializing in design and creating Judaica textile objects. Her works also include paintings, graphics and jewelry designs and can be seen in galleries, synagogues, boutiques and private collections in Israel and abroad. Irena is a member of UNESCO International Artist Association.
Irena uses silk, wool and cotton fabrics, and employs various techniques, such as painting, embroidery and applique to create unique long lasting art works, that can be used in religious and home life. Her textile Judaica reflects the beauty and spirit of Israel.
